FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
This is where we try to answer your questions. If you can't find the information that you are looking for, please get in touch.
Will my dog enjoy daycare?
We do understand that daycare is not suitable for every dog. Many may find the environment over stimulating creating anxiety and undesirable behaviour. For this reason all dogs will need to attend a trial day where their suitability can be assessed. Following the trail day we will discuss whether we believe a doggy daycare setting is appropriate for your dog and will let you know whether we can offer your pooch a place.
Are you insured?
Yes, we are fully insured with a specialist Animal Services insurer. Our insurance covers liability, day care custody, transportation of dogs and keyholder responsibility.
Are you licensed?
Yes, we have received the highest rating of 4 stars from East Hants District Council. Find out more.

Do you look after puppies?
We take puppies from ten weeks old, as long as they have had their second round of vaccinations. Our dedicated puppy programme aims to assist your puppy in coping with the real world, including basic training, interaction with other puppies and older dogs. In addition, our puppy programme familiarises them with grooming, teeth cleaning, recall and appropriate play. They also receive plenty of affection and rest which is so important at a young age.

Does my dog need a kennel cough vaccination?

All dogs attending daycare will need to receive an annual vaccination for kennel cough. Before your dog or puppy starts at My Doggy Daycare they will need to have had a kennel cough vaccination.
What if my dog doesn’t get on with other dogs?
Aggressive or anxious dogs could find the environment at My Doggy Daycare stressful and it therefore may not be a suitable option for them. We carefully assess all dogs before joining us and will only offer you a place if we believe your dog will enjoy our facility.
What happens in bad weather?
My Doggy Daycare is predominantly an outdoor facility. Although all dogs have access to an indoor heated space, your dog will spend time playing outside in all weathers. In the event of severe snow conditions, Fetch & Retrieve services may be affected. If we are unable to collect your dog, you will be notified by 7:30am. However, since we are a home-from-home facility, My Doggy Daycare will continue to operate, even in bad weather, so all drop and collect services will run as normal.
How many days a week does my dog have to attend My Doggy Daycare?
We work on the same principle as a nursery, where your dog has a reserved space each week. This is for a minimum of one day a week, although many of our dogs come for 3 or 4 days. These do need to be set days, although we understand flexibility is needed, so we will always try to accommodate day changes if possible. Your days are reserved and 100% guaranteed for every week into the future, for as long as you choose to send your dog to us.
Can I book extra days?
We will always try to accommodate extra days for our regular dogs.
Do I still have to pay if I am on holiday?
Similar to nursery systems, My Doggy Daycare is open 50 weeks of the year. We are closed over Christmas and New Year. However, we do understand that most families will take a holiday at various points of the year. For this reason we provide you with four weeks holiday leave from My Doggy Daycare at no cost, in addition to the Christmas and New Year break.
